Advancing stem cell medicine
- New Trial: CBR® launched a clinical trial using cord blood stem cells as a potential treatment for Pediatric Stroke and recruitment is currently underway.
- Family Health RegistryTM: Newborn Possibilities Program® expands, targeting medical research on conditions common among CBR clients that may be treatable with cord blood stem cells.
- We established a Scientific and Medical Advisory Board, composed of internationally renowned stem cell experts, to provide input and guidance in our mission to expand the scope of newborn stem cell therapies that may be available in the future. The founding members are Dr. Charles S. Cox Jr., Dr. Mahendra Rao, Dr. Leslie Silberstein and Dr. Alan Trounson.
Building a health-conscious community for our clients
- Strength in Numbers: 800+ families with a medical need have received free banking this year alone.
- Client Newsflash: CBR cord blood stem cell recipient, Dillon Low, was an American Red Cross ambassador for #SleevesUp at a NASCAR race.
- 40 Weeks The Movie: We sponsored the creation of 40 Weeks The Movie, which follows a diverse group of families on their journey through pregnancy, aimed to support women emotionally and educationally.
- Launched BabyCenter & What to Expect Communities: Our partners at BabyCenter and What to Expect helped us establish community groups to help parents make informed decisions on their cord blood banking options.
Partnering with leaders in healthcare
- China Cord Blood Corporation, China’s largest family cord blood bank, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding regarding a strategic collaboration which will help raise international awareness of the importance of newborn stem cell research. The planned partnership will have several areas of focus including supporting more newborn stem cell-related clinical trials in the U.S. and China.
- The National Association of Hispanic Nurses® entered into a collaboration with us focused on educating health care providers and the public about the importance of preserving umbilical cord blood stem cells. Through active counseling to promote informed decision making by Latina expectant mothers, CBR and NAHN will strive to reach an increasing number of Hispanic families that may benefit from the storage or donation of cord blood stem cells.
